Richard van den Barg is Managing Director of T3 Projects.
Richard is an experienced construction professional who has been involved in the African Mining and Industrial sector for over 30 years. He is also a mentor and coach to young talent.
Richard joined Group Five Projects as a trainee in 1982, and for the first few years of his career spent time on site gaining hands-on experience on various sites across South Africa. He eventually returned to Head Office to manage the estimating and proposals department and was appointed Director in 1994. During his career Richard has managed the front-end of the business: marketing; business development; estimating; tendering and contract negotiation, and provided operational support to the business.
He took a sabbatical from Group Five at the end of 2011 for five years, during which time he managed a construction company based in Ghana, and then spent three years with another major listed construction group in South Africa. He re-joined Group Five in 2016, focusing on the large multi-disciplinary EPC opportunities for the Group, across multiple sectors. He moved across to T3 Projects as a Director and shareholder in 2019.
